Acupuncture and Cancer

Acupuncture is becoming more popular as part of an integrated approach to the treatment of cancer symptoms and the side effects of Western treatments / chemotherapy. Many prominent cancer centers such as MD Anderson, Scott & White, and Sloan Kettering continue to do research on the effects of acupuncture on cancer patients and their treatment regimens. Many of these centers offer acupuncture for cancer patients and survivors.

Acupuncture may benefit patients and those in recovery by treating / effecting:

  • Anxiety / Depression
  • Dyspnea
  • Fatigue
  • Gastro-intestinal side effects (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, loss of appetite)
  • Hot flashes
  • Immune Support
  • Insomnia
  • Intractable Pain
  • Lymphedema
  • Pain Management
  • Unremitting hiccups
  • Vertigo
  • Xerostomia

Cancer care is done under the treatment plan of the patient's Oncologist. Acupuncture is used as a complementary method to improve the patient's quality of life.
